Sue Atkinson, RN, is a Partner in Digital & Technology Transformation. She has over 30 years of healthcare experience covering direct clinical care, process improvement, and healthcare IT. Sue has served as a healthcare IT consultant for nearly 20 years advising integrated delivery network (IDN) systems and academic medical centers on IT operations and EHR implementations. Her expertise includes strategic EHR planning, program implementation management, and operational readiness.
Sue has served as a program director for multiple successful enterprise EHR implementations for small and large health systems. Most recently, she served as the program director for the rollout of an EHR and additional applications and complete replacement of infrastructure and technology for her client’s newly acquired health system. Sue’s implementation focus has been ensuring “on time, on budget,” but also operational readiness and driving program benefits, standardization, and transformation. Sue has also assisted clients in post-implementation IT structure and staffing benchmarking, governance and demand management, informatics, and data and analytics. Sue thrives on helping clients achieve the greatest value from their technology investments.
In addition to her EHR implementation program management experience, Sue has experience assessing and building Clinical Informatics programs for her clients. She is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) CNO-CNIO Vendor Roundtable as well as the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).
Prior to joining Chartis, Sue advised health delivery organizations while working for Impact Advisors and First Consulting Group. She also previously advised nationally recognized health plans and health systems and served as an Assistant Vice President with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) focused on accreditation and HEDIS quality measures.
Sue received her Master of Business from Santa Clara University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Alfred University. She was previously certified in Epic Orders and Orders Transmittal and is Lean Six Sigma certified and is a Six Sigma Green Belt.
