John Wiest is a Senior Partner in Financial Transformation and co-leads the Mergers & Integration practice. He is a senior executive with more than 35 years of experience leading, transforming, and advising integrated healthcare systems and other providers across the care continuum. He is a recognized expert in performance improvement and organizational transformation, partnering with clients to realize long-term sustainable growth, process efficiencies, and overall financial and operational excellence.
John’s recent work includes directing large, complex projects in the following areas: financial turnaround and enterprise margin enhancement, mergers and acquisitions, business development, market share growth and profitability, strategic planning, sustainable revenue enhancement and cost reduction, and service line planning and execution. He combines his deep expertise in operational and financial performance improvement and change leadership to provide solutions for clients that address their unique circumstances while optimizing resources.
John has presented and written extensively on organizational transformation and staffing optimization. He has been a frequent speaker at HFMA and ACHE events and a guest lecturer at Florida Gulf Coast University and has contributed to the following publications: US News and World Report, PwC Health Research Institute, HFM magazine, The Advisory Board, Modern Healthcare, and HealthLeaders.
Prior to joining Chartis, John served as the Performance Excellence business unit leader for Navigant (now part of Guidehouse), a leading healthcare consulting firm. Previously, he served as Managing Director and Southeast Market Leader in PwC’s Healthcare Mergers and Acquisitions practice. Before beginning his advising career, John served more than 25 years in numerous health system executive leadership roles. He is a recipient of the following awards: VHA Bright Ideas Award – Financial and Operational Improvement; Governor’s Sterling Award – Best Business Office Operations; and Navigant’s Mentor of the Year Award.
John received an Executive Master of Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Frostburg State University.
