Paul Murphy is a Partner in Digital & Technology Transformation. Paul’s healthcare career has spanned 30 years, the last 24 of which have been focused in IT and operations advisory consulting. He is an accomplished strategic advisor with a reputation for delivering pragmatic, objective, and actionable guidance to his clients in a variety of healthcare provider settings throughout the country.
Paul’s client engagements have focused on IT and operational strategic planning including portfolio planning, governance and IT service strategy, innovation planning, IT vendor selections, contract negotiations, cost analysis, and implementation planning. His clients have included large, complex provider networks such as Catholic Health Initiatives, Tenet Healthcare Corporation, BJC Healthcare, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic, and MercyOne as well as leading community health networks including Munson Healthcare, Wellstar Health System, Southcoast Health, and Baptist Health. Paul also has experience providing advisory services at the state level and to a sovereign tribal nation.
Prior to joining Chartis, Paul provided advisory services in a leadership capacity at ECG Management Consultants, Encore Health Resources, and Kurt Salmon Associates. He has been an active member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) for 22 years, most recently serving on the Innovation Committee. He has published and presented thought leadership pieces at HIMSS as well as in industry publications including the Journal of Health Information Management and Healthcare Innovation magazine.
Paul earned a Master of Business Administration in healthcare administration from Baruch College and Mount Sinai School of Medicine, leading to his induction to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, and a Bachelor of Science from University College Dublin in Ireland.
