
Melissa Jones is a Senior Manager with Chartis. She is a registered nurse and board certified Medical/Clinical Informaticist (CI) with 20 years of clinical experience providing clinical informatics and technology-based advisement to health delivery organizations. Her informatics background includes support of ambulatory and inpatient clinical workflow redesign, operational readiness, bedside medical device integration (BMDI) support, Clinical and Provider Documentation implementations and optimizations. Melissa has spent the last 15 years leading full system lifecycle development and implementation of multi-entity enterprise Electronic Health Records (EHR) including Allscripts, Cerner, and Epic vendors. Melissa has diverse high acuity clinical experience and extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and operations.
Recent engagements include a multi-year, multi-facility Merger & Acquisition (M&A) IS Integration, a multi-year, multi-facility EHR Strategy, Selection, Planning, and Implementation for a tribal nation, and management of a metric implementation program for one of the largest Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) providers in the country. On the M&A project, Melissa managed the Applications portfolio used to prepare and plan for the transition. Once finalized, she transitioned into a Clinical Operational Readiness role where she partnered with business operational leaders to transition nearly 200 clinical applications and led the hospital Mock Go-Live events. She was the engagement manager for the Strategy, Selection, and Planning phases and mentored and partnered with the Clinical Informatics Officer on Clinical Readiness during the Implementation phase of the EHR project with the tribal nation. For the ABA client, Melissa engaged and advised stakeholders on best practices to develop approximately 70 metrics to support and leverage external stakeholder value proposition messages.
Prior to joining Chartis, Melissa was an independent healthcare IT advisor serving in various Clinical Informatics roles for the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, VA, City of Hope in Duarte, CA, and CHI St. Luke’s Health in Houston, TX. Melissa worked as an Informatics Resource Nurse at Baylor Health and Hospital System (now Baylor Scott and White Health) implementing and optimizing EHR software across a multi-hospital healthcare system.
Melissa earned her Master of Business Administration, Healthcare Management from the University of Texas Tyler and her Bachelor of Science, Nursing from Texas Woman’s University.
