John Petersen is an Associate Principal with Chartis. He has over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare delivery Information Technology (IT). John has led various healthcare IT efforts with primary focus toward cybersecurity. Additionally, he is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
John’s leadership successes include helping numerous healthcare organizations develop enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategies and related programs. Based on industry best practice, he has created various unique management tools and frameworks to help clients assess their current risk profile to develop mitigation strategies. Most recently, he served as a CISO mentor and advisor for a large healthcare system in northern Virginia. John also served as the security policy advisor to the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and the security program manager for the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Health Information Exchange (HIE) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Prior to joining Chartis, John served as Director of IS – Assurance and IT Security, ISSO for Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York.
John holds his Master’s Certificate in Applied Project Management from Villanova University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University.
