Elaina Sendro Gano is an Associate Partner in Digital and Technology Transformation. She brings more than 13 years of consulting and healthcare experience to the firm, particularly around the areas of strategic program and project management, IT strategy, system selection, and pre-implementation planning. Elaina has worked with multiple integrated delivery systems, community hospitals, academic research institutes, and post-acute care organizations to lead various clinical system selections and total cost of ownership development, IT strategic planning, and preparation for system implementation.
Elaina’s recent engagements include work with a top-ranked academic research institute in the Mid-Atlantic to manage a large-scale, $25 million NIH funded project to onboard 57 academic research hubs to a federated research network. The network of over 140 million patients permits researchers to assess study feasibility and identify collaborators for multi-site studies. She led a nation-wide team in achieving the program’s specific aims and milestones, which resulted in an additional $3 million funding opportunity to expand upon capabilities of the research network.
Prior to joining Chartis, Elaina was an Advisor with Aspen Advisors, a top healthcare IT advisory services firm, before it became a part of The Chartis Group in 2014. Before that, she served in an administrative resident role at UPMC Children’s Hospital and as an advisor with Idea Foundry, a non-profit economic development organization, where she evaluated potential investment opportunities. Elaina began her career as a research biochemist with Kinex Pharmaceuticals evaluating various chemical compounds to serve as potential immunotherapy drug candidates.
Elaina holds a Master of Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, a Master of Science in Healthcare Policy and Management from the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry and Spanish from Washington and Jefferson College.
