Denise specializes in leadership and management of teams, strategic planning and execution, and cross-functional revenue cycle optimization.
Her expertise includes designing and executing complex solutions in Denials Prevention and Management, Patient Estimates, Scheduling Optimization, Registration and Prior-Authorization Automation, and Accounts Receivable Follow-Up. Before joining Chartis Group, Denise held leadership roles in IT and Operations for the last three years as the IT Director, Epic Revenue Cycle at Johns Hopkins Health Systems. She successfully led a large application team to deliver advanced optimizations and cultivated a strong partnership between IT and Operations. Before her IT role, Denise was the Director of Performance Improvement at Johns Hopkins University Physicians Billing Service. In this role, she directed and managed performance improvement, governance, high-visibility initiatives, and projects for a $2 billion dollar-a-year organization billing over 2,800 providers. In addition, she was the operational Project Director for the Epic Resolute PB implementation in 2015 and the SBO consolidation in 2018.
Denise has also led several process improvement initiatives, leveraging data analytics to uncover insights that informed strategic decisions. For instance, in 2021, she led the technology project to redesign central financial clearance workflows for a complex academic organization. The results were improved metrics in timely prior authorizations obtained and decreased denials in areas such as Oncology and Surgical service lines. Also, in 2021, she designed and implemented an effective, multidisciplinary Denials Prevention Taskforce by joining IT and Operations with a simplified analytical framework, relevant data, and resolution prioritization methodology.
