Chartis, a leading healthcare advisory firm, announced today that Tomas Villanueva, DO, MBA has joined the firm as a Clinical Transformation Senior Partner. He is board certified in internal medicine, hospice, and palliative care with more than 25 years in the ambulatory, acute, and subacute areas, and is also an experienced physician executive.
Having established three adult hospitalist programs from concept to operational status, Villanueva has a proven track record collaborating with multidisciplinary medical staff and health administrators in clinical operations, cost reduction, and quality improvement—all aimed at improving care delivery. At Chartis, he will specialize in performance improvement, leading transformational engagements focused on the quadruple aim: improved patient experience, population health improvement, cost reduction, and care team well-being.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tomas to the firm,” said Pam Damsky, Managing Partner and Leader, Clinical Transformation at Chartis. “He has decades of experience from the bedside to the boardroom, enabling him to improve organizational performance without losing sight of what matters most—the quality of care our clients provide to their patients.”
Before joining Chartis, Villanueva was a Senior Principal, Performance Improvement Consulting, and held numerous other clinical consulting roles at Vizient. Prior to that, he served in several medical leadership positions, including Chief of Hospital Medicine at Baptist Health Medical Group and Chief of Medicine at Kendall Medical Center and Medical Director at The Palace Nursing Home. He is also part of the inaugural class of Senior Fellows for the Society of Hospital Medicine.
Villanueva is a published author and a frequent speaker on clinical leadership topics, and he teaches at two colleges of medicine. He holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with honors from Nova Southeastern University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Miami.
