How did your previous work experience and academic training prepare you for the work you do at Chartis?
In graduate school, I focused primarily on health services research and policy while also working for various state healthcare agencies. I was able to deepen my understanding of many of the factors affecting the healthcare industry through my support of early-stage, state-sponsored medical home implementation initiatives. I also led a study examining statewide variability in the rates of a common surgical procedure which required a great deal of multi-year statistical analysis of large statewide databases. This experience positioned me well for my consulting work with Chartis. Being involved in policy and implementation provided me with a broad contextual background for the challenges that our clients face, and my research experience helped me develop the foundational analytic skills I use in my day-to-day work.
What did you think of the Chartis recruiting process and how did it affect your decision to join?
The recruiting process was an incredible combination of rigorous, stimulating, and friendly interactions. I was continually challenged in the most respectful way. Each person I met demonstrated an interest in who I was, and how I would approach the work. This was a palpable difference relative to the other recruiting processes I’d experienced.
After I got my offer, I received over a dozen emails and phone calls from peers up through managing directors congratulating me and offering their support. Hearing from so many people at all levels reinforced that I was about to join a firm that is as much about the people as it is about the work.
What keeps you at Chartis?
Chartis is a vibrant community of colleagues who share a common passion for materially improving healthcare delivery. I am humbled to have the opportunity to work with such exceptional people on the most pressing problems faced within the industry. On a daily basis, I’m also reminded that we are at the forefront of industry innovation both in the way we approach our engagements and in the insights we deliver. At Chartis, I’m part of a fast-growing, entrepreneurial firm helping clients navigate the dramatically changing healthcare landscape. I can’t imagine a more exciting place to be right now.
